<strong>of</strong> Pakistan.<br />

There is no quota system on these parts.<br />

All used and remanufactured motor vehicle parts are considered and treated as old<br />

(used) parts. U.S. exporters considering exporting to this market are advised to<br />

contact the Pakistan Ministry <strong>of</strong> Commerce to determine if any amendments have<br />

been made to the government <strong>of</strong> Pakistan's import policy, allowing the import <strong>of</strong><br />

used/remanufactured automotive parts.<br />

The absence <strong>of</strong> high precision parts manufacturers, lower costs for<br />

used/remanufactured automotive parts and the existence <strong>of</strong> many<br />

maintenance/repair facilities will make Pakistan a good market for<br />

used/remanufactured automotive parts, provided that the ban, currently<br />

imposed on imports, is removed.<br />

PANAMA<br />

Panama has no restrictions on the importation <strong>of</strong> remanufactured, rebuilt and/or<br />

used motor vehicle parts. The customs <strong>of</strong>fice does not make a distinction between<br />

used and remanufactured parts.<br />

The above applies to all motor vehicle parts.<br />

There are no quotas or limitations on these parts, nor any special treatment or<br />

conditions.<br />

<strong>Import</strong> duties on vehicle parts in general (remanufactured, rebuilt, and/or used),<br />

range from 3% to 15% <strong>of</strong> the c.i.f. value. A 5% value added tax is also applied on<br />

the total value <strong>of</strong> the product (c.i.f. value plus import duty).<br />

The market for used and remanufactured vehicle parts is becoming stronger,<br />

because there is an increasing awareness that such products represent a good<br />

option. This is especially true in the case <strong>of</strong> commercial vehicles (cargo and<br />

passenger transportation).<br />
