It is important to systematically evaluate management effectiveness <strong>of</strong> PAs since this should,<br />

apart from yielding reliable information for effective resource allocation, keep management on<br />

track to accomplish the goals for which the PAs were established. As part <strong>of</strong> <strong>Ghana</strong>'s<br />

commitment to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), parties are obliged to evaluate<br />

management effectiveness <strong>of</strong> at least 30% <strong>of</strong> protected areas by 2010.<br />
