Tel.: +233 75 62 21 22 8 Khilafat Centenary Jalsa - Ghana 2008 AHMADIYYA MUSLIM MISSION, GHANA Khilafat Centenary Jalsa - Ghana 2008 PURPOSES OF JALSA SALANA (FRIDAY SERMON BY HAZRAT KHALIFATUL MASIH V.) THE JALSA IS NOT A FESTIVAL but a Jama’at convention. Do not think that you are participating in a festival and do not waste your time in personal meetings, buying, selling or showing off the latest fashions. Greet each other with smiles. If you had any rancour, end them with smiles in these three days. Secondly, spread the good words and urge others to perform good deeds and tell them to desist from bad practices. After all, that is the prime purpose of Jalsa Salana. Those who come to attend Jalsa, must participate in it fully and instead of roaming about aimlessly, they should derive the maximum benefit from the programme. Care should be taken that the ladies and the children sit and listen to the Jalsa proceedings quietly and try to derive maximum benefit from them. BLESSINGS OF THE JALSA Ahmadis should participate in the Jalsa with full zeal and vigour. This is your Jalsa Salana. Do not be absent without any valid reason. Some people only come for one day instead of all three days and then their objective is to meet friends rather than gain the blessings of the occasion. If Jalsa is kept in mind, then attendance on all three days is essential. Listen to the speeches and other programmes in silence paying full attention. Do not waste this precious time. Guest should remember that all these arrangements are temporary. The volunteers should work very hard to serve the guests, but occasionally if there is any shortfall, it should be overlooked. If any guest finds a shortfall, they should gently draw the attention of the workers to it. There is no need to be angry. The arrangements are large scale and there are bound to be some deficiencies. They should be tolerated and overlooked. ADVICE FOR HOSTS & WORKERS Treat your fellow workers with respect and honour; and perform all your duties together in an atmosphere of love and friendship. The hosts must perform their duties of hospitality in a pleasant manner and continue to do so as long as the hospitality period continues. 17
Otti 16 Khilafat Centenary Jalsa - Ghana 2008 Space for own Tents or caravans Space has been provided for those who have their own tents or caravans. Those who will access these provisions are expected to adhere to all norms and ethics expected of members of the Ahmadiyya community at such gatherings. Hotels around Bagh-e-Ahmad Those who wish to take hotel accommodation may do so. A list of the hotels around Bagh-e-Ahmad has been provided at page 25 of this booklet. Food Stalls and market For the purposes of the Jalsa, a special area has been designated as market from where one can buy food items etc. No sales whatsover shall be permitted outside this area. FIRST AID/MEDICAL FACILITIES Medical teams will be in attendance at Bagh-e-Ahmad throughout the period of the Jalsa. These will include Homoeopathic, Herbal and Allopathic teams made up of well qualified personnel who will provide care for participants who may require attention of one sort or the other. These services shall be free. However, in case the necessary medication is not available the patient may have to provide money for procurement. Lost and Found Property If you find or loose money or any valuables please notify the information office for appropriate action. Pay Phones Pay Phones are not available at Bagh-e-Ahmad but a number of mobile call centres have been given permission to operate at the market area. Both local and IDD calls may be made at these centres at a fee. Participants are advised to take note that these centres shall not be allowed any where else at the Jalsa grounds. Currency and Travellers’ Cheques. There are no facilities for exchange of currencies and travellers’ cheques at Bagh-e-Ahmad. All foreign participants are advised to have cash in local currency.
