Nutrition Services<br />

1) Incorporate a healthy activity (e.g., physical activity, healthy snack) into at<br />

least one schoolwide celebration.<br />

Counseling, Psychological and Social Services<br />

1) Complete the JCPS Safe and Drug-Free Schools Best Practices Checklist to<br />

address bullying. Visit the Safe and Drug-Free Schools employee page on<br />

the JCPS Web site.<br />

• Under Violence Prevention, click on Bullying Guide. Select either<br />

Elementary or Middle/High. From here, select Best Practices Checklist.<br />

2) Promote at least one of the following programs:<br />

• Prom Promise<br />

• <strong>Program</strong> that addresses dating violence<br />

Family and Community Involvement<br />

1) Conduct at least one event that educates students on cancer and cancer<br />

prevention.<br />

2) Send home literature to parents about Healthy Celebrations (must be completed<br />

by September 30).<br />

• See the JCPS Nutrition Services Web site, and click on Nutrition Data and<br />

Education and District Wellness Policy.<br />

3) Plan for Dress in Blue Day (typically the first Friday in March) to promote<br />

colon cancer awareness and prevention.<br />

• <strong>Program</strong> specialists will provide the program materials.<br />

Health Promotion for Staff<br />

1) Conduct the <strong>HPSE</strong> Staff Wellness survey, and participate in at least one of<br />

the following programs based on the wants/needs of your school staff:<br />

• Humana/Summit Health Screenings<br />

• Humana/Vitality<br />

• Cooper/Clayton smoking cessation classes<br />

• American Cancer Society’s Active for Life<br />
