GENERAL EDUCATION<br />
Considerable focus was placed in <strong>2011</strong> on improving education in <strong>Jerusalem</strong>. Our<br />
main goals were to 1 improve academic achievement 2 strengthen weaker<br />
students and 3 support informal educational programming in the arts, music and<br />
environmental sustainability.<br />
1 Improve Academic Achievement<br />
Improving academic achievement includes significant investment in Kiryat HaYovel schools, where we<br />
partnered with the UJA/New York Federation, the <strong>Jerusalem</strong> Municipality and the <strong>Jerusalem</strong> Education<br />
Authority. The goal is not only to improve academic achievement but also to create schools that are<br />
attractive to young families, keeping them in <strong>Jerusalem</strong>. The <strong>Foundation</strong> also supported programs that<br />
assist high school students to improve their matriculation exam results, offered electives for high school<br />
students, subsidized programs with special emphasis on science courses and unique programs for excelling<br />
