III. DEEP
A traveling exhibition that explored the huge range of
underwater creatures that survive by adapting to the
extreme conditions at these depths.

Israeli Young Scientist Contest –
A yearly process
A national contest with 75 finalists from all Israeli
communities.
Highlights of this year’s competition:
• An open discussion with the Israeli Nobel Prize winner
Professor Ada Yonath,
• The final ceremony at the President’s residence with Shimon
Peres, Gideon Saar, the Education Minister, and Prof. Daniel
Hershkowitz, the Science Minister.

A Scientific Youth Parliament
Involvement of 60 high school students in the public discourse on
bio-ethical topics.
The final event was the submission of recommendations to
the Israeli Parliament to be adopted as new Israeli laws.
Under the auspices of the Science & Technology Committee
at The KNESSET (Israeli parliament)

focusing on our civil responsibilities.

with the “Friends of Earth - Middle East”
organization.

WaterWorks’ Exhibitions: A cluster of exhibitions on water - Israeli resources, scarcity,
quality and conservation (permanent exhibitions).
DEEP - Exhibition In honor of International Biodiversity Year. An exhibition that sheds light
on the deep, dark depths of ocean life, highlighting its beauty and fragility.
Winnick program - for schools
A yearly program targeted at Jerusalem students to deepen their knowledge of
sustainability, materials and the environment.
17 classes from 6 different schools from Jerusalem took part in the program.
Supported by the Winnick family through the Jerusalem Foundation.

On the Stage
Dr Molecule Flows with Water – A science show
Through drama and humor Dr. Molecule teaches scientific
principles and characteristics of water.
Forum Theatre;
Against the Current – A science show
A forum theatre that involves debates on energy and
sustainability and requires active participation of the
audience.
With the help of the Israeli Electric Company.
Outreach - Environmental Friendliness
Based on traveling exhibits, demonstrations and workshops.
Activities took place at schools and community centers in
Jerusalem with 8,500 participants.

Israeli Arab Population
Over 15,000 Arab school students came to special activities at the
Museum (K-12). 14% of these students were subsidized by the Jerusalem
Foundation.
The Museum:
• Employs an Arab coordinator.
• Markets to this big community.
• Adapts educational programs.
• With Arab guides and science cards in Arabic.

In order to overcome cultural barriers the Museum:
• Employs a Haredi coordinator
• Adapts educational programs
Last year 3,403 Ultra-orthodox school students in 185 different
groups had their first exposure to science and technology
issues.
Activities took place at the Museum as well as in their
communities.

Science Café:
Monthly encounters between scientists and
the general public on the topic of evolution,
at the “Tmol Shilshom” café in downtown
Jerusalem. Free admission.
SciCinema:
Monthly events organized in cooperation
with the Jerusalem Cinematheque. A lecture,
followed by a film screening.

The museum’s
participation in EU projects of
Science in Society:
ACCENT - Raising awareness of the climate crisis.
MIC – An innovative pilot interface, on the Ideal future of
European cities & Jerusalem.
RESEARCHERS’ NIGHT- An open event free of charge with
researchers and the public.
2WAYS – developing innovative ways to explain current
research in life sciences for high school students and
the general public. Finals took place at The European
Union Parliament in Brussels under the auspice of
STOA (Science & Technology Options Assessment
committee) with 60 delegates from 30 different European
parliaments in 17 countries. The final event was
coordinated by our Museum.
