Clause 2. <strong>Student</strong>s have the right to express views on academic subjects which conflict with those<br />
expressed by a professor in a course and the responsibility to provide a well-argued rationale for their<br />
views.<br />
Clause 3. <strong>Student</strong>s are subject to the <strong>College</strong> policy on intellectual property, as amended from time to<br />
time, and to the Honor Code. A copy of the <strong>College</strong>’s Intellectual Property Policy is available for<br />
student's review in the Office of the Provost.<br />
Clause 4. <strong>Student</strong>s will have the opportunity to achieve their academic capabilities. Thus,<br />
a. At the beginning of each course, all enrolled students shall be guaranteed access to course<br />
requirements and grading policies. <strong>Student</strong>s are responsible for being familiar with course<br />
expectation documents provided by the instructor.<br />
b. Attendance and engagement policies will be stated clearly in all course syllabi<br />
Clause 5. <strong>Student</strong>s fulfilling the college’s graduation requirements shall receive their duly earned<br />
degrees. <strong>Student</strong>s have the responsibility to accurately report their educational background and<br />
degrees.<br />
Section 3. Residential Life<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s attending the <strong>College</strong> take on responsibilities not only of campus citizenship but also community<br />
citizenship. The <strong>College</strong>’s Community Standards exist to create an environment conducive to learning, while<br />
establishing parameters that respect and protect students’ rights and freedoms and deters conflict that is<br />
destructive to human relationships in the community and detrimental to the image and reputation of the<br />
<strong>College</strong> and its student body. <strong>Student</strong>s will work to form constructive relationships with other students and<br />
members of the <strong>College</strong> community, thus strengthening the reputation of the student body and the <strong>College</strong>.<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s are expected to abide by local, state, and federal laws.<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s shall conduct themselves responsibly in the community, respecting the personal and property rights<br />
of all residents. It is to the advantage of the student body, as well as in the best interest of the <strong>College</strong> and the<br />
community, for everyone to work together to maintain community standards and to build good relations<br />
among the citizenry.<br />
Clause 1. <strong>Student</strong>s shall be secure in their persons and property, which includes a student’s physical,<br />
personal mail and educational and medical records consistent with federal and state laws.<br />
a. This section shall not be construed to restrict routine inspection and maintenance of <strong>College</strong><br />
property provided by authorized college personnel or by emergency and/or public safety<br />
responders in their line of duty. <strong>Student</strong>s will be given reasonable notice of routine service or<br />
maintenance.<br />
b. Probable cause for suspicion of wrongdoing shall exist before search and seizure. Searches<br />
shall be specific in intent.<br />
Clause 2. Officers of the college exercising their right to enter student rooms for the purposes of search<br />
will make every reasonable effort to do so when the student is present.<br />
Clause 3. Civil police authorities shall obtain a legal search warrant before entering a student’s room<br />
for the purpose of searching a room.<br />
