home, a public shelter, or other safe<br />

all residents included in the<br />

evacuation order.<br />

• If you do not have a safe location to evacuate<br />

to, public shelters are available as a last resort<br />

to evacuating residents.<br />

• If evacuating to a public shelter, know how you<br />

will get there, and what to expect.<br />

• During an evacuation order, OPEN public<br />

shelters will be announced by officials.<br />

• JTA provides Free transportation to open<br />

public shelters if <strong>Jacksonville</strong> is under an<br />

evacuation order.<br />

There are three ways to use JTA services during an<br />

evacuation:<br />

1. JTA Bus Stops<br />

2. Designated Pick Up Points<br />

3. School Bus Stops<br />

Pets


Be <strong>Prepared</strong> – Pets<br />

• The City of <strong>Jacksonville</strong> now provides shelter<br />

needs for your pets if evacuation orders are<br />

issued. Pet owners must register their animals<br />

with Animal Care and Control to be admitted<br />

into one of three pre-designated pet-friendly<br />

shelters.

• Reptiles are NOT permitted

and all necessary supplies<br />

Owners are responsible for the care<br />

and maintenance of their pets inside<br />

a public shelter.<br />

Veterinarian professionals will be on hand<br />

in case of an emergency.
