transcripts are required to be submitted to the office of admissions for all incoming students. Failure to do so will affect your<br />
ability to register for classes. The application is valid for one year. Students applying to <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong>, but not enrolling,<br />
will be allowed one full year to request reactivation.<br />
Home School Students<br />
<strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong> welcomes homeschooled students to apply for admission. All applicants have the same requirements and<br />
each application is reviewed individually. <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong> will place special emphasis on college entrance exams and may<br />
contact the primary educator for additional information.<br />
Application Process for Home School Students<br />
Submit a completed application, standardized test scores from SAT or ACT, and an official transcript. Comprehensive<br />
transcripts developed by home school associations or by the primary teacher are accepted. All transcripts should include: course<br />
name, credit, and final grade for all 9-12 grade courses; graduation date and a signature affirming that the transcript is the official<br />
record of academic studies. If any high school credit was earned in a formal high school setting or college, the applicant must<br />
supply an official copy of the transcript from the respective school. Courses taken online or through correspondence programs<br />
should be similarly documented. For evaluation purposes we encourage clear documentation and explanation of all English,<br />
math, and science courses. Applicants are required to have the equivalent of: three years of English, two years of algebra, one<br />
year of geometry, one semester of trigonometry, and two years of lab science (one must be) chemistry or physics for all degree<br />
programs except the BBA. For BBA, two years of science is required.<br />
The Office of Admissions may request additional information in making an admission decision. Applicants may submit<br />
additional materials to be reviewed with their application such as letter of reference, essays, etc. Please do not submit<br />
photographs, projects, CAD drawings, etc. Note that all materials sent as part of the application become property of <strong>Kettering</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong> and will not be returned to the student. Final transcripts and college transcripts are required to be submitted to the<br />
Office of Admissions for all incoming students. Failure to do so will affect your ability to register for classes.<br />
ADMISSION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS<br />
<strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong> welcomes students from foreign countries. International students should apply on-line at<br />
www.kettering.edu. The admission decision is based on the student‘s record of achievement in secondary school or university<br />
studies. International students must present one of the following test results: SAT, ACT, Test of English as a Foreign Language<br />
(TOEFL), or International English Language Testing System (IELTS). TOEFL or IELTS results are required from students<br />
whose native language is not English, or who did not attend school where English was the language of instruction.<br />
Certified copies of transcripts/educational certificates and records with English translations must be filed with the application. A<br />
secondary school/university level grading scale may be requested. International students must also provide a financial plan for<br />
tuition, a personal statement, and two letters of recommendation before a final admission decision can be determined. <strong>Kettering</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong> does offer a limited number of partial scholarships to international students. Payment in full of the total balance due<br />
must be made by 4:00 p.m. third week Friday of each academic term. Students who do not comply with this policy will be<br />
dropped from classes and separated from the university. The separated students’ visa program will be terminated in SEVIS<br />
by fourth week Wednesday.<br />
Immigration Information<br />
F-1 Student Visa Applicants – Admitted international students receive the I-20 form with their official letter of admission. All<br />
international students are required to present the I-20 form when applying for an F-1 Student Visa and again at the port of entry<br />
into the United States. Applicants enrolled at another U.S. institution with an F-1 Student Visa must be released from SEVIS by<br />
their current institution before <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong> can issue a new I-20 form.<br />
Co-op Employment of International Students<br />
International students are able to secure co-op employment in the U.S., or may obtain co-op employment in their home country.<br />
In addition to providing work experience, the co-op employer must also provide students with a salary during work terms.<br />
International students will be responsible for work term transportation, living expenses and personal expenses.<br />
ADMISSION OF TRANSFER STUDENTS<br />
<strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong> encourages students with prior college experience to seek admission. Students are encouraged to apply online<br />
at www.kettering.edu.<br />
Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended. Additional information, such as high school<br />
transcripts or SAT/ACT scores, may be required from students who have completed less than 30 credit hours. A list of courses<br />
in progress and the catalog(s) with course descriptions from each college attended may also be requested. Academic credentials<br />
submitted by transfer applicants must present evidence of high academic performance as required at <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong>.
