SUMMARY OF JUNE SAMPLING ACTIVITIES<br />

During the June sampling period, fish <strong>and</strong> invertebrate samples were collected by several<br />

methods over a two-week period, as follows:<br />

June 18 – 24 Passive Tow Net Stations PM00, PM01, PM02 on Port McKenzie Pier<br />

June 20 – 24 30 ft Beach Seine Stations PMN, PMS, PMSS, PMNB, PMNB1, PMNA<br />

120-FT BEACH SEINE<br />

Beach seining occurred at the six st<strong>and</strong>ard KABATA seining stations (Stations 7, 10, 11A, 13,<br />

14, <strong>and</strong> 16) within outer <strong>Knik</strong> <strong>Arm</strong>, as well as at four additional stations (Station 1, 2, 3, <strong>and</strong><br />

6B) within the inner <strong>Arm</strong> on June 14 <strong>and</strong> 15, 2005. Station 1, located near the mouth of<br />

Fire Creek <strong>and</strong> Station 3, near Eagle Bay are inner <strong>Arm</strong> stations sampled occasionally when<br />

flooding tides allowed access <strong>and</strong> when whale monitors were available. Station 2 was a<br />

new station located between Goose Creek <strong>and</strong> <strong>Fish</strong> Creek, sampled because it was the<br />

nearest clean beach to a group of feeding beluga whales. Station 6B was located just south<br />

of the mouth of Goose Creek. <strong>Fish</strong> species observed in beach seine hauls are presented in<br />

Table 1.<br />
