Proficiency Awards<br />
The agricultural education<br />
program has three integral<br />
components: classroom<br />
instruction, <strong>FFA</strong> and supervised<br />
agricultural experience<br />
program (SAE). SAEs allow<br />
students to apply knowledge<br />
gained in the classroom and<br />
through <strong>FFA</strong> to real world<br />
experiences.<br />
Students have the opportunity<br />
to be recognized for<br />
effort and involvement in<br />
their respective SAEs<br />
through proficiency awards.<br />
Members may apply as placement<br />
or entrepreneur for any<br />
one of the 49 award areas.<br />
A total of 1,373 applications<br />
were received this year<br />
from the 52 associations,<br />
representing all 50 states,<br />
Puerto Rico and the Virgin<br />
Islands. During Friday’s sixth<br />
general session the final four<br />
in each area was narrowed<br />
down to the national winner<br />
amid applause and cheering<br />
friends and family.<br />
