WHAT IS THE<br />
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE<br />
T<br />
he St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce maintains various roles in our community:<br />
Fir<strong>st</strong>, to be the voice for business; to unite the business and professional people in our<br />
community in an effort to expand the economy of the area; and to build upon our membership<br />
diversity to provide businesses numerous opportunities. Our mission is to help businesses<br />
prosper through advocacy, education and exposure.<br />
Consider joining our 1,000 members in order to take advantage of numerous opportunities. We offer<br />
exposure of your business through networking events, ribbon cutting ceremonies, and valuable marketing<br />
opportunities at no charge to the business. We also ho<strong>st</strong> events throughout the year which help<br />
with business to business marketing as well as business to consumer marketing. With three (3) visitor<br />
center locations, we provide an easy outlet for your business to reach out to visitors or residents looking<br />
for information or referrals within our community.<br />
In order to educate the business community about issues having a direct impact on our business<br />
climate, we hold monthly workshops with gue<strong>st</strong> speakers on topics ranging from tax preparation and<br />
planning to the economic impact of a new power plant in our community. Our monthly newsletter also<br />
provides pertinent business information.<br />
Finally, the Chamber of Commerce serves as a business advocate. Our Local, State and National<br />
Affairs Committee along with our Board of Directors carefully monitor all aspects of government regulations<br />
impacting our businesses and community. We travel to Tallahassee at lea<strong>st</strong> once a year to meet<br />
with legislators. We watch local ordinances and get involved with economic development issues such<br />
as the recruitment of the Wal-Mart Di<strong>st</strong>ribution Center, the facilitation of a hurricane assi<strong>st</strong>ance loan<br />
fund and the passage of a bond referendum for con<strong>st</strong>ruction of the We<strong>st</strong> Virginia Corridor.<br />
Building upon our community partnerships and with the work of various Chamber committees, the<br />
Chamber is able to serve its diverse membership with planning and assi<strong>st</strong>ance in the areas of education,<br />
tourism, business and indu<strong>st</strong>ry, minority affairs, Hispanic affairs, local and <strong>st</strong>ate government affairs<br />
and membership.<br />
Chamber membership provides an effective way to advertise your new or exi<strong>st</strong>ing business. Those<br />
that are active in the events and with our committees enjoy the greate<strong>st</strong> success for their business.<br />
