for admission to AUD’s graduate programs are evaluated<br />

by the Graduate Admissions Committee of the respective<br />

programs, which meets twice every semester (dates are<br />

available onl<strong>in</strong>e). Only complete files will be forwarded<br />

to the committee at the time of review, so we encourage<br />

you to f<strong>in</strong>alize and submit your file as early as possible.<br />

Student Life & the Campus<br />

There are 52 student clubs and numerous annual events<br />

<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g a Week of Welcome, AUD Desert Safari, International<br />

Night, Ramadan Tent, AUD Gala D<strong>in</strong>ner and Award Ceremony,<br />

W<strong>in</strong>ter Ball, Thanksgiv<strong>in</strong>g Day and UAE National Day.<br />

The Student Center houses <strong>in</strong>door sports facilities, a barber<br />

shop, a beauty salon, a travel agency, a bank, a copy center, a<br />

bookstore, a supermarket, and food courts.<br />

Athletic facilities <strong>in</strong>clude a 1,300ft track, a 82ft pool, a soccer<br />

pitch, three tennis courts, and two basketball/volleyball courts.<br />

A central <strong>in</strong>door stadium, the AUD Knights Arena, is designed<br />

so that it can be dis-mantled <strong>in</strong>to two <strong>in</strong>dependent courts used<br />

for <strong>in</strong>door football, handball, basketball or volleyball.<br />

This stadium has a capacity of 2,500 spectators, <strong>in</strong> addition to<br />

an outdoor spectator’s gallery that faces the soccer field and<br />

accommodates a public of 300.<br />

Separately, there are two squash courts and a 1,600sqf<br />

gymnasium and an aerobics/danc<strong>in</strong>g/music room.<br />

The AUD Library <strong>in</strong>cludes over 130,000 books (pr<strong>in</strong>t and<br />

electronic); over 300 journals; and 70 onl<strong>in</strong>e databases.<br />

Payment Procedure<br />

Payment Details<br />

• An application fee of AED 200 must be sent along with the completed <strong>Application</strong> <strong>Form</strong>.<br />

• A non-refundable reservation deposit, which is fully applied toward tuition, is required to enable us to process your application:<br />

AED 5,000 (undergraduate applicants) to be paid with<strong>in</strong> two (2) months of the start of the term of entry; AED 2,000 (graduate<br />

applicants) to be paid upon acceptance to the graduate program.<br />

• To book for the English and/or Math placement exam at AUD, an exam fee of AED 300 is required.<br />

• To reserve a room <strong>in</strong> the hous<strong>in</strong>g, a hous<strong>in</strong>g reservation fee of AED 2,500 is required.<br />

• To process the student visa, fees <strong>in</strong>clude AED 1,000 as well as a refundable AED 2,000 passport security deposit.<br />

• Tuition fees can be viewed onl<strong>in</strong>e http://www.aud.edu/About_AUD/F<strong>in</strong>ance/f<strong>in</strong>ance.asp or at the F<strong>in</strong>ance Office.<br />

Tuition and fees are due upon registration. Students can pay by cash, checks (U.A.E. Dirham checks drawn on a U.A.E. bank only), and<br />

Mandatory Health Insurance Waiver<br />

Private health <strong>in</strong>surance cover<strong>in</strong>g care <strong>in</strong> the U.A.E. is mandatory for all AUD students except U.A.E. Nationals. In order to<br />

Visa Information<br />

Students who are accepted and enrolled on a full time basis are eligible to be sponsored by the university and will be issued a<br />

Student Residence Visa valid for one year.<br />

New students should request for the visa by contact<strong>in</strong>g one of the representatives <strong>in</strong> the Admissions Office.<br />

Students already enrolled at AUD, must apply for the Student Residence Visa at the Registrar’s Office.<br />

Required Documents and Process<br />

Hous<strong>in</strong>g Accommodation Information<br />

AUD’s non-smok<strong>in</strong>g student hous<strong>in</strong>g consists of four residential build<strong>in</strong>gs, and four residence halls, separate for females and males.<br />

All residence halls are located <strong>in</strong> the northwest corner of the AUD campus with<strong>in</strong> 2-5 m<strong>in</strong>ute walk to the academic build<strong>in</strong>gs, library,<br />

computer labs, cafeteria, small grocery shop and the outdoor sports facilities that <strong>in</strong>clude basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, as<br />

well as soccer field and a swimm<strong>in</strong>g pool.<br />

Each residence hall has a laundry room, a study area, a TV lounge, and a fully equipped kitchen and d<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g room. Campus satellite<br />

television service is provided <strong>in</strong> each lounge. High-speed Internet connections are also provided <strong>in</strong> each room of all four residence<br />

halls. Separate female and male gyms are available for use by hous<strong>in</strong>g residents. This complete fitness facility is provided free to<br />

students liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the residence halls.<br />

All rooms are double occupancy. However, there may be s<strong>in</strong>gle occupancy rooms available <strong>in</strong> summer sessions at additional cost.<br />

Students will be notified of this availability by the Hous<strong>in</strong>g Manager. Each dorm room is furnished with two s<strong>in</strong>gle beds, two<br />

wardrobes, two desk, two chairs and two bedside tables. Each dorm room has a private bathroom. Students are responsible for<br />

supply<strong>in</strong>g their own bed l<strong>in</strong>en, towels, toiletries, and eat<strong>in</strong>g utensils.<br />

Hous<strong>in</strong>g <strong>Application</strong> Procedure<br />

• Students who have settled the admission fees are eligible to apply for student hous<strong>in</strong>g by pay<strong>in</strong>g a hous<strong>in</strong>g deposit of AED 2,500<br />

dur<strong>in</strong>g the admissions process. The rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g hous<strong>in</strong>g fees have to be paid one month prior to the beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g of each semester. In<br />

addition, students are required to pay a refundable security deposit of AED 1,000.<br />

• Upon settl<strong>in</strong>g the hous<strong>in</strong>g deposit, students are placed on a wait<strong>in</strong>g list. Students should contact the Hous<strong>in</strong>g Manager for room<br />

book<strong>in</strong>g confirmation. New applicants are assigned rooms on a first-pay, first-assigned basis.<br />

• Students are then requested to submit the follow<strong>in</strong>g forms to the Hous<strong>in</strong>g Manager: 1) Student Hous<strong>in</strong>g Agreement <strong>Form</strong>, 2)<br />

Dormitory Computer Network Use Agreement, and 3) Curfew Extension <strong>Form</strong>.<br />

Hous<strong>in</strong>g Check-<strong>in</strong><br />

Check-<strong>in</strong>/out dates are stated on the AUD website, and <strong>in</strong> the Hous<strong>in</strong>g Kit.<br />

Check-<strong>in</strong> takes place from 9:00am – 6:00pm Sunday through Thursday <strong>in</strong> the Hous<strong>in</strong>g Office <strong>in</strong> the Student Center - room 330.<br />

Students who arrive on check-<strong>in</strong> dates prior or after office hours should go directly to the Student Hous<strong>in</strong>g gate. The security guard is available<br />

24/7. He will call the Hous<strong>in</strong>g Controller or the Resident Assistant who will escort the students to their room and give them the keys.<br />
