Despite directing <strong>the</strong> uber-blockbuster Mamma Mia – <strong>the</strong> biggest<br />

grossing film <strong>of</strong> all time at <strong>the</strong> UK box <strong>of</strong>fice and <strong>the</strong> UK’s bestselling<br />

DVD ever – Phyllida Lloyd is a rare interviewee. With an impressively<br />

prolific but versatile CV, <strong>the</strong> 52-year-old started directing before she<br />

was out <strong>of</strong> a school uniform, yet she is intensely modest when it<br />

comes to her accomplishments, using words such as ‘luck’ and<br />

‘opportunity’ and explaining that too many people inspire her to<br />

even begin to list.<br />

Named as one <strong>of</strong> Britain’s 100 most influential gay and lesbian<br />
