This is an attractive and very popular service.
The choir are busy
preparing Lenten music by Howells, SS Wesley, Warmsley
and Buxtehude. The service will focus on Mary, the
Mother of Christ.
This is a finale to Holiday
Club and will be youth led and orientated. There will
be a short service of Holy Communion after the main
service.
A short service for all the family (45
mins) followed by hot cross buns!
This
will be a meditative service and
commemorates the Last
Supper. (1 hour).
A traditional reflective service of half hour
slots punctuated by hymns. So come and go
on the hour or half hour for as little or as
long as you wish. This is led by the
Archdeacon of Malmesbury, The Venerable
Christine Froude, (ex St Mary’s, Stoke
Bishop).

This will be an up-beat
short service of 50 mins, after which (at 11.30) there
will be a short service of Holy Communion for all
who feel that Easter is not complete without sharing
this Feast.
No evening service.
As we go to press, the programme is being finalised for a series of concerts
during the day and at 7 pm each evening alongside the Shroud Exhibition.

Ceramic pomegranate seeds, a Rust-o-saurus,
soaring swans, an iridescent stained glass
Sacred Lotus, and a host of botanical art
including Indonesian floral batik and water
colour and ink hellebores are just a few of the
designs in the portfolios of our Easter weekend
exhibitors.
Popular touring company, Tessitoura, returns
to St Mary’s with ‘Hansel and Gretel’ an
opera by Engelbert Humperdinck, from a story
by the Brothers Grimm. Sung in English by
talented young opera singers, the performance
will be accompanied by a small chamber
orchestra under musical director, Arne Kovac,
directed by Jonny Wilkinson, who says: "This
fairy tale, beloved by children for many
generations, is going to be a dark emotional
roller coaster with witches, angels and an
edible gingerbread house. What more could
we want?" Suitable for older children.

Voices from Stoke Bishop
1914–18 Remembered
There must be few of us who are not aware that August sees the hundredth anniversary of the outbreak of the
First World War. To commemorate the occasion, St Mary’s is collaborating with the Stoke Bishop & Sneyd Park
Local History Group to produce a dramatic entertainment that recreates the part Stoke Bishop played in the
Great War and to tell the stories of some of the 62 names inscribed on the Roll of Honour. To do this we need
your help. Do you have letters, diaries, papers, photos, artefacts, family memories of anyone living in Stoke
Bishop at the time? Have you material that throws light on what it was like to fight in the First World War? If so,
we would love to hear from you. Please contact Keith Sheather (968 2170) or Jenny Weeks (968 6010).
