Department Activity Report November 15, 2010 City Commission Meeting Page 10 Public Works Department Northwest Pioneers Park – Park reconstruction is complete. The grand re-opening of NW Pioneers Park is scheduled for November 17, 2010. Police Athletic League Facility – Assumed maintenance responsibility for the building located at 903 South 21st Street that was previously known as the YMCA. A conceptual floor plan is being established with the coordination of PAL representatives. Keep Fort Pierce Beautiful – 1. Coordinated the volunteer efforts of the Fort Pierce Police Explorer Unit (Ages 15-21) to adopt the Moore’s Creek Linear Park area. This group will perform litter and trash cleanup events monthly for the upland areas. 2. Agreed to provide new recyclable material receptacles at the Marina Square area. Energy Efficiency & Conservation – 1. Commenced the replacement of 24.5 SEER HVAC units with programmable thermostats in various locations. 2. Met with FPUA Customer Service Representatives to gain a greater understanding of the invoicing procedures. The result of this meeting will allow the City to generate accurate background levels for comparative analysis. Police Department Lincoln Park Main Street – Chief Baldwin met with Lincoln Park Main Street Board Members to discuss the outcome of the police department’s investigation into allegations that the former executive director misallocated funds. This investigation has been closed with no charges filed. Saggy Pants Ordinance – The police department has completed a report for the City Commission on enforcement action of saggy pants ordinances in other Florida jurisdictions. This report will be reviewed at the Commission Meeting on November 15, 2010.
Department Activity Report November 15, 2010 City Commission Meeting Page 11 Urban Redevelopment Convened a series of ongoing staff discussions between all affected departments on how to move forward with regard to Jetty Park's renovations and the issues surrounding several grants for that project, funding, construction time frames, etc. Coordinated weatherization partnership between Indiantown Housing and Lincoln Park Main Street for area residents. Involved FPUA staff in meetings to make sure all City staffers were aware of the program and had appropriate information for residents who would call our offices inquiring about the program. Staff attended regional meeting of Homeless Coalition. Retained architect to rehabilitate 827 Atlantic as element of NSP program. Cancelled contracts for two properties on 9th Street due to inability of owners to close in appropriate time frame. Worked with Purchasing to select pool of consultant contractors and contractors to bid on NSP construction. Selections approved by City Commission. Began process of working with new consultants and assigning projects to them. Ongoing inspections of two CDBG housing construction projects and addressed BBB complaints re: Bryant rehab. Also inspected NW Pioneers Park construction and site work at Intermodal Bus Terminal project. Department is now assuming the responsibility for the FEMA administration, tracking and reporting for the City. Marina Oversee daily marina operations. Preparing for seasonal dockage and events. See weekly e-mail "Marina Happenings" newsletter for update. Planted mangrove pods for nursery - on site. Working on security camera system for marina.
