If cloth back has been torn entirely away<br />

from cover, follow these steps before<br />

applying Cloth <strong>Book</strong> Tape.<br />

Cut a strip of<br />

Construction paper,<br />

making it as long as<br />

the book you’re<br />

mending and as wide as the<br />

thickness of the spine of the<br />

book. Lay the paper strip<br />

down the centre of your Cloth<br />

<strong>Book</strong> Tape so it reaches from<br />

one plastic folder to the other.<br />

Picking up the tape<br />

by the plastic folders,<br />

align a 3/4" width<br />

along the front hinge<br />

of the book as shown. Never<br />

cover any printing on front<br />

cover. Press down lightly.<br />

Remove plastic folders by<br />

pulling them carefully down<br />

and away.<br />

Bring tape across back<br />

of book and press<br />

down lightly on the<br />

cover.<br />

Cut from the<br />

end of the tape<br />

to the cover as<br />

shown. Do the<br />

same at the<br />

opposite end.<br />

Cut triangular<br />

corner off of<br />

flaps.<br />

Fold corners of<br />

center flaps<br />

over. Fold down<br />

outer flaps on<br />

inside of each<br />

cover board.<br />

Open the book<br />

half way. Press<br />

wedge shaped<br />

ends of the tape<br />

down into the spine of the<br />

book with a plastic folder.<br />

Lay the book<br />

on its side,<br />

and crease the<br />

hinge grooves<br />

with the end<br />

of a plastic folder. Then rub<br />

down flat surfaces with the<br />

flat edge of the folder to<br />

complete the job.
