Charles Omondi Okello<br />

ISRRT Council Representative,<br />

Kenya<br />

Charles Omondi Okello qualified as a diagnostic radiographer in<br />

July 1985 from the then Kenya Medical Training Centre.<br />

He worked at the Coast Provincial General Hospital for 21<br />

years.<br />

During both his training and working life, Charles has had the<br />

experience of working part-time in private hospitals. He has also<br />

been widely exposed to skill-enhancing workshops organised by the<br />

professional society and research institutions. As a medical imaging<br />

technologist, his area of interest is ultrasonography.<br />

In the year 2001 Charles participated in the curriculum development workshop held at the Kenya<br />

medical college (KMTC) – the institution that trains radiographers in Kenya.<br />

He has risen through the ranks to become the Deputy Chief Radiographer in the Ministry of Medical<br />

services and has been a member of the Council of the Society of Radiography in Kenya and is currently<br />

acting chairman of the same society.<br />

Charles holds a diploma in diagnostic radiography from Kenya Medical Training College and a<br />

higher national diploma in medical imaging sciences: Ultrasound, from the same college. He graduated<br />

in March 2010 with a Bachelor of Technology in Radiography: Ultrasound, from the University of<br />

Johannesburg, South Africa.<br />

He is married with three children and they make their home in Nairobi, Kenya. v<br />
