Calculating the psi value I<br />

U factor is the heat flow through one meter depth <strong>of</strong> the model.<br />

This is used to calculate the psi value as follows:<br />

Psi value = U factor * length <strong>of</strong> 2D model – sum <strong>of</strong> U value * length <strong>of</strong> flanking element<br />

Associate a U factor with all internal surfaces <strong>of</strong> the model as follows:<br />

1. Create a new U factor: Libraries > U factor names > Add > “unique name” e.g.<br />

Simple_internal_UFactor > close<br />

2. Select the two internal BC: press the shift key while carefully clicking on the two<br />

surfaces > press return and the U Factor window should appear<br />

3. Select the appropriate U Factor name and press OK<br />
