General Function<br />
Responsible for premier member service and member retention. Position acts<br />
as the frontline representative <strong>of</strong> the <strong>YMCA</strong>. Provides service and information<br />
to current and prospective members.<br />
General Requirements:<br />
Have the ability to conduct tours, sell memberships and programs. Must be able<br />
to communicate effectively in person and on the telephone with individuals <strong>of</strong><br />
diverse backgrounds. Must be able to articulate the mission <strong>of</strong> the <strong>YMCA</strong>, and<br />
respond to safety and emergency situations.<br />
Entry Requirements<br />
1. Must be at least 16 years <strong>of</strong> age<br />
2. Current <strong>YMCA</strong> approved first aid certification *<br />
3. Current <strong>YMCA</strong> approved CPR certification *<br />
4. Experience in a service, sales and/or <strong>of</strong>fice environment preferred<br />
5. Customer service and general <strong>of</strong>fice skills<br />
6. Basic knowledge <strong>of</strong> computers and general <strong>of</strong>fice equipment<br />
7. Must have flexible schedule to include some night, early morning<br />
and weekend availability<br />

Minimum Physical Requirements<br />
You must have the physical, visual and auditory ability to perform the<br />
essential functions <strong>of</strong> the <strong>job</strong> with or without reasonable accommodations.<br />
Position regularly requires the ability to do word processing, data entry and<br />
filing for several hours at a time. Position may require, sitting, bending,<br />
leaning and kneeling on an occasional basis. Must be able to lift up to 40<br />
pounds in order to perform essential functions.<br />
All volunteers working with the <strong>YMCA</strong> are considered to have supervisory or<br />
disciplinary action relationship over minors. Fingerprints will be taken upon<br />
commencement <strong>of</strong> employment and will be submitted to the Association<br />
Office human resources department prior to beginning the first day <strong>of</strong> work.<br />
Volunteers may be rechecked every two years. This position requires the<br />
ability to conduct tours <strong>of</strong> the facility.
Essential Functions<br />
1. Answer inquiries and provides information on membership and<br />
programs<br />
2. Respond to member concerns<br />
3. Control access to the facility<br />
4. Maintain membership filing system<br />
5. Track membership data on a daily basis<br />
6. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required<br />
7. Demonstrate the "Character Counts" values <strong>of</strong> caring, respect,<br />
honesty and responsibility in all your dealings with members, guests,<br />
volunteers and fellow staff<br />
8. Participate in training and abides by the "New Perspectives"<br />
guidelines for the <strong>YMCA</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>San</strong> <strong>Francisco</strong><br />
9. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor<br />
Effects on End Results<br />
This position has a significant impact on the quality and effectiveness <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Membership Department. Provides service and information to members while<br />
providing a safe and fun environment.
