GOVERNMENT
• Visually inspect identification
badges, do not assume someone
should be in your building because
of a uniform. Never leave a repair
person alone. Verify written orders
for property to be removed from a
location. Never allow repairs to
security or communications
equipment without first verifying
the work order.
• Be aware of bogus uniforms and
charitable causes. Do not assume
that a delivery/repair person or
collector for a charity is legitimate.
Do not patronize these individuals
by viewing their merchandise.
• Keep information secure. Memorize
combinations and passwords for
computers and safes. Never share
passwords. Have a back-up system
when a co-worker is on leave.
• Question visitors who wander
through your office. Legitimate
guests will appreciate the offer of
assistance and would-be solicitors
or thieves will be deterred.
• Be especially watchful for
suspicious persons in parking lots,
parking structures or on your
premises. Be alert to individuals
Keeping purses and bookbags under desks is an invitation to an office creeper. Make sure
to lock them up in a secure drawer or cabinet at all times.
who follow you and/or watch you
