<strong>School</strong> and Community<br />
<strong>Godinez</strong> <strong>Fundamental</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> has an enrollment of<br />
2620 with a projected graduating class of 553. We are committed to<br />
create a college-bound culture where academic excellence meets<br />
student accountability. As a fundamental high school, <strong>Godinez</strong><br />
provides a comprehensive, standards-based core curriculum grounded<br />
on high expectations and accountability for all. All of the school’s<br />
structure and procedures were designed to implement and support<br />
“<strong>Fundamental</strong> <strong>School</strong>” concepts. Some of these concepts include an<br />
emphasis on high standards of student conduct and attendance to<br />
enhance quality instruction; insistence on strong study habits, selfdiscipline,<br />
and responsibility; reinforcement of traditional values,<br />
patriotism, citizenship, respect, courtesy, and pride in<br />
accomplishment; and parent involvement<br />
<strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Ana</strong> <strong>Unified</strong> <strong>School</strong> District is the fifth largest<br />
district in the state, currently servicing over 57,319 students in grades<br />
K-12 and residing in the City of <strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Ana</strong>. Of those students, 95%<br />
are Hispanic or Latino. The district currently operates 37 elementary<br />
schools, 9 intermediates, 7 high schools, 3 alternative high schools, 4<br />
charter schools, and 10 special programs. The student population<br />
receives, 56% qualifying for English Language Learner support, and<br />
78% enrolled in the Free and Reduced Price Meal Program.<br />
Instructional Focus<br />
The mission of <strong>Godinez</strong> <strong>Fundamental</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> is to<br />
provide a safe, supportive environment with clear, consistent<br />
expectations and high academic standards. Our vision emphasizes<br />
that we are community in which all are engaged in academic<br />
achievement and character development. Literacy is a focal point in<br />
a collaborative, college- bound culture that ensures all students<br />
graduate or exceed entry-level requirements of a four-year university.<br />
Teachers work in partnership in professional learning communities to<br />
continuously improve instructional practices and develop smaller<br />
learning communities that allow students to receive more<br />
individualized attention. All curriculum and instruction is aligned to<br />
the California State Content Standards and Frameworks approved by<br />
the State Board of Education.<br />

All special education students are mainstreamed into the<br />
general education classroom based upon their IEP and provided<br />
instruction in the least restrictive environment.<br />
English Learners are placed in the same academic programs<br />
as the rest of our students. Additional support may be received<br />
through our tutoring programs that take place throughout the day.<br />
Faculty<br />
<strong>Godinez</strong> FHS has a professional staff of 106, 73 with Masters<br />
Degrees, and 2 with multiple Doctorates Degrees. Seven staff<br />
members hold counseling degrees and 7 hold administrative<br />
credentials. 100% percent meet the highly qualified teaches’<br />
requirements of NCLB as well as being CLAD credentialed. There<br />
are 20 full-time classified staff members, 9 part time instructional<br />
assistants, 27 part time classified staff members in addition to 13 part<br />
time cafeteria workers who are supervised by 1 Food Service<br />
Supervisor.<br />

Counseling Department<br />
The Counseling Department, comprised of an Assistant<br />
Principal, 5 counselors and 1 <strong>High</strong>er Education Coordinator, provides<br />
a comprehensive program that includes individual and group<br />
counseling at each grade level. <strong>Godinez</strong> FHS non-teaching support<br />
service staff is a specialized team of experts which, through close<br />
collaboration, is instrumental in improving student attendance and<br />
achievement through the identification, referral, and remediation of<br />
health and/or emotional concerns. As a high school with a college<br />
bound student curriculum, academic and college counseling is an<br />
integral part of the guidance service.<br />
Graduation Requirements<br />
All students are required to pass all course areas listed,<br />
complete 220 credits for graduation and pass the California <strong>High</strong><br />
<strong>School</strong> Exit Exam.<br />
