a printed paper maker’s label inscribed “Nagasaki, Japan, H. Imamura,<br />

Embroiderer,” 20 x 22 1/2 in., in a later frame.<br />

Note: This silk needlework was commissioned by a Massachusetts<br />

sailor in Japan in memory of his home state.<br />
