B2b District - and school-level staff will be trained to fully and effectively implement the selected<br />
intervention model.<br />
Funds will be used to partner with Expeditionary Learning <strong>School</strong>s Outward Bound (ELS) to<br />
provide job-embedded professional development for successful implementation of the Expeditionary<br />
Learning <strong>School</strong>s Model. The ELS leadership and professional development specialists will become an<br />
integral part of the school’s redesign team. The staff at <strong>Brennan</strong> will be trained by the ELS Team over the<br />
three year grant period through a gradual release model. The funding will be targeted at training and<br />
supporting the administrators, teachers and other staff as they move through the creation, establishment<br />
and continuous sustainability of a successful Expeditionary Learning Environment model for <strong>Brennan</strong>.<br />
B2c The district will monitor each component of the selected intervention model for each school.<br />
The primary responsibility of monitoring each component of the Turnaround Model at <strong>Brennan</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />
will fall upon the new Director of Instruction for Turnaround / Transformational <strong>School</strong>s. In addition, the<br />
Associate Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Subject Area Curriculum Supervisors, and the<br />
Special Education Director will assist in monitoring progress at <strong>Brennan</strong> through focused “walkthroughs”<br />
and by providing feedback and next step strategies to ensure progress in meeting the goals of SIG. The<br />
<strong>Brennan</strong> Leadership Team will meet with the Superintendent, the Director of Instruction for Turnaround /<br />
Transformational <strong>School</strong>s, and key central office administrators on a regular basis to share progress on<br />
meeting the goals and requirements of the Turnaround Model.<br />
B2d The district will monitor the allocation of resources and funds to effectively implement the<br />
selected intervention model.<br />
The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction will be responsible for overseeing the entire<br />
SIG project. She will work with the principal of the school and the Central Office Special Funds Budget<br />
Office to ensure appropriate allocation of resources and funds to effectively implement the selected<br />
intervention model.<br />
In addition, the new Director of Instruction for Turnaround / Transformational <strong>School</strong>s will collaborate<br />
with the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendents and the Finance offices to create a matrix of all<br />
resources for <strong>Brennan</strong> to determine how to consolidate funding sources into a more comprehensive,<br />
targeted budget model for <strong>Brennan</strong>.<br />

The NHPS and <strong>Brennan</strong> / <strong>Rogers</strong> <strong>School</strong> will design and implement interventions consistent with the<br />
federal requirements for SIG’s Turnaround Model, as well as be in compliance with identified deadlines.<br />
We will develop and increase teacher and school leadership by providing more focused support to the<br />
current principal, who began her role in September 2009. We did not replace the principal as we are<br />
confident , Ms. Lott, has the skills and competencies needed to transform <strong>Brennan</strong> into a high functioning
