All strips are to be cut on crosswise grain of the fabric (width<br />

of the fabric). All strips are based on 42" long strips.<br />

Carefully trim off all selvages. PLEASE READ THE<br />

PATTERN CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU BEGIN.<br />

15 White Lilac Cut 2 - 6 3 /8" wide strips,<br />

Pinecone Cut strips into 8 - 6 3 /8" squares,<br />

Cut once on diagonal for<br />

a total of 16 triangles<br />

Block 1 Construction<br />

Sew a 3 7 /8" triangle of Fabric 6 to a 3 7 /8" triangle of Fabric 10<br />

to make a Unit 1. Sew a 3 7 /8" triangle of Fabric 10 to a 3 7 /8"<br />

triangle of Fabric 5 to make a Unit 2. Press toward the<br />

direction of the arrows.<br />

Sew a Unit 1 and a Unit 2 together to make a Unit 3 (Make<br />

sure the colors are in the correct position).<br />

Sew a Unit 3 Fabric 5 side to two opposite sides of a 3 1 /8"<br />

square of Fabric 11.<br />

Sew a Unit 4 to the top and bottom of a Unit 5 (Make sure the<br />

colors are in the correct positions). See the piecing diagram<br />

below.<br />

Sew a 2 3 /8" square of Fabric 1 to a 2 3 /8" square of Fabric 3,<br />

and sew a 2 3 /8" square of Fabric 3 to a 3 7 /8" triangle of<br />

Fabric 6. Sew together as illustrated. Press toward the<br />
