Cutting 45° Angle Diamonds<br />

Line up the 45° angle on the ruler with the tip edge of set 1.<br />

Trim the edge as shown in Figure 1. After trimming the edge<br />

cut 4 - 1 13 /16" segments as shown in Figure 2. Use a ruler<br />

grided in 1 /16" or use the cutting guide on page 5. Repeat for<br />

set 2 and 3. Trim the edge of set 1R as shown in Figure 3.<br />

Continue cutting as shown in Figure 4. Cut 4 - 1 13 /16"<br />

segments. Repeat for set 2R and 3R.<br />

Sew one each of sets 1, 2, and 3 together to make star<br />

points. Make 4. Press seams open. Sew one each of sets 1R,<br />

2R, and 3R together to make reverse star points. Make 4.<br />

Press seams open (See Hint for Sewing Set Together).<br />

Block 4 Construction<br />

Using the 2 3 /8" x 21" half-strips make 6 strip sets one each of<br />

1, 1R, 2, 2R, 3, & 3R. Sew strips together off-setting the<br />

strips by approximately 2 1 /2" as illustrated below. Press<br />

seams toward the direction of the arrows.<br />

Hint for Sewing Set Together<br />

Seams are not going in the same direction, they cross at<br />

the 1 /4" seam allowance. Pin each intersection. The pin<br />

should be placed where corresponding seams meet. Sew<br />

carefully.<br />
