By the time you read this Hearsay, the law library should have its<br />
new copiers in place. As we have been warning, the new copier<br />
equipment is not comp<strong>at</strong>ible with the old card reader system, so<br />
copycards are no longer accepted. We are sorry th<strong>at</strong> we cannot<br />
provide refunds on copycards. However, the new system should<br />
be able to accept bills up to $20 and return change in bills r<strong>at</strong>her<br />
than just coins, which will make using cash a lot easier than in the<br />
past. The new equipment will also be quieter, faster, and use less<br />
energy and need fewer repairs than our current equipment.<br />
And now, take a look <strong>at</strong> the many items we have available for bid<br />
during October:<br />
The law library is taking blind bids on the following items:<br />
1. Construction Litig<strong>at</strong>ion Handbook, 2010.<br />
2. New Appleman Insurance Law Practice Guide 2011.<br />
3. Collection Actions with 2010 supplement.<br />
4. Fair Debt Collection with 2010 supplement.<br />
5. Determin<strong>at</strong>ion of Income for Child Support CD Rom,<br />
2010.<br />
6. Trial Evidence Found<strong>at</strong>ions CD Rom, 2010.<br />
7. Determining Economic Damages CD Rom, 2010.<br />
Give your bid to the law librarian through the end of October. Bids<br />
must indic<strong>at</strong>e your name, phone number, amount, and item(s) on<br />
which you are bidding. Winners will be notified in early November.<br />
We reserve the right to withdraw an item from bidding.<br />

TRUST ACCOUNTING<br />
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS TO CLIENTS<br />
The Washington St<strong>at</strong>e <strong>Bar</strong> Associ<strong>at</strong>ion trust account reporting<br />
requirements to clients are:<br />
• whenever money is received or disbursed on client’s behalf –<br />
the most common method is to show the activity on the client’s<br />
monthly billing st<strong>at</strong>ement.<br />
• for client money held for a long period of time with no transactions<br />
occurring, send <strong>at</strong> least an annual accounting th<strong>at</strong> shows<br />
how much money is being held; if there is no specific reason to<br />
hold these funds in the trust account, return funds to the client.<br />
