CLUB CHALLENGE ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Clubs are a very important part of the event. Each year, clubs compete to see which has the most vehicles in attendance, and awards are presented to the top three. There is also an award presented to the club with the coolest hangout. See who won last year on PAGE 15. YOUNG GUNS — FUTURE OF THE HOBBY ••••• The younger generation is the future of the Mopar hobby and we want to make sure they have a home at the Chrysler Nationals. If you haven’t checked out the Young Guns classes yet, you might be surprised to see that what they are doing isn’t a whole lot diff erent than what we “old-timers” are used to. Young Guns classes are open to licensed drivers ages 16-25. DAISY DUKES CONTEST •••••••••••••••••••••• There are so many things that folks remember about the Dukes of Hazzard including the characters, the stunts and the cars. When it comes to the characters just about everybody remembers the shorts that Daisy Duke wore. In fact, they are so popular they took on her name. In honor of Catherine Bach’s appearance at the show this year, we are hosting our fi rst-ever Daisy Dukes Contest. Grab your best pair of Daisy Dukes, maybe a tied-off plaid shirt and be at the Stage on Friday at 3 p.m. to see if you can win the title and some cash. If you roll up to the stage in a yellow ’73 Road Runner you’ll probably earn bonus points! HIT THE STRIP ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON Take a short drive to Quarter Aces for Mopar-only drag racing. Watch everything from show cars to blown Hemis blast down the NHRAsanctioned 1/8-mile strip. Winners’ lists will be available at 9 a.m. Sunday on tables set up just outside Guest Services as well as at Vendor Services and Showfi eld Registration. Winners must check in at Guest Services to join the parade and/or pick up their award. Those who cannot attend the event on Sunday may have the award shipped for a $10 fee or held for pickup at our offi ce during regular business hours or at any future event. Professional photography is available at the parade and available onsite for purchase. LIVE MUSIC: THE VOLUNTEERS OF THE U.S. ARMY FIELD BAND •••••••••••••••• The Volunteers is the United States Army’s six-piece premier touring rock band. Since 1981, this talented group has performed in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Central America and Europe. The band performs rock, country, pop and other current styles of music. People nationwide are captivated by their fast-paced, highenergy shows. One young woman commented, “I love the music they sang, and the fact that they are in the Army — they rock!” The mission of The United States Army Field Band is to “carry into the grassroots of our country the story of our magnifi cent Army.” In performances across the globe, the members of the Volunteers take great pride in refl ecting the excellence of all our nation’s soldiers.
