Dear Member,
We are happy that CII has set up the
“CII Institute of Logistics, a Centre
of Excellence on Logistics and Supply
Chain Management” (CII-IL) and
happy to present our 1st Annual
Report This Institute was fully
functional from the year 2004 and
it’s main objective was to meet the
latent need of the CII membership
and industry for specialized services
in Logistics and Supply Chain
Management.
In today’s competitive environment,
Companies that are keen to be
globally competitive have to excel
in all functions of management in
order to achieve Organisational
Excellence. There is an unparalleled
pressure on the Industry to make
things cheaper, better and faster at
different locations . The Supply
Chain has thus become a critical
component to gain competitive
advantage with growing
complexities with a need to manage
both the (back end) Suppliers and
the (front end) Customers.
The Institute focusses on this area,
operating out of Chennai, but will
be present throughout the country.
We hope that this will be another
major milestone in CII’s emphasis
to enhance the internal
competitiveness of the Industry.
The Institute has the following six
pronged focus :

to the Industry
• Training on various aspects of
Logistics & Supply Chain
Management
• Research on trends, best
practices & know-how on
Logistics
• Knowledge & Information
services
• Skill development & knowledge
enhancement of logisticians
through it’s Education
programmes
• Major Events sharing best
practises and highlighting
opportunities
The activities undertaken by the
Institute as per the above
mentioned focus areas have been
elaborated in the enclosed first
Annual Report of the CII Institute
of Logistics.
