• Bring their wider expertise and experience <strong>to</strong> the Steering Group and not<br />
just the perspective of the organisation or community they represent.<br />
• Contribute <strong>to</strong> the development, delivery and evaluation of individual activities<br />
within the project as appropriate.<br />
In accepting the invitation <strong>to</strong> join the Steering Group, partners are asked <strong>to</strong> make a<br />
commitment <strong>to</strong>:<br />
• Approach the issues with an open mind and a willingness <strong>to</strong> consider a<br />
range of alternative approaches <strong>to</strong> the issues raised by coastal change.<br />
• Listen respectfully <strong>to</strong> the views of others even where they may disagree.<br />
• Seek consensus with other partners on the way forward wherever possible.<br />
• Champion the project’s aims wherever they feel able <strong>to</strong> do so.<br />

The proposed governance arrangements discussed and agreed by the Steering<br />
Group are summarised in figure 1. As the project <strong>to</strong>ok shape, it became clear that the<br />
‘Pathfinder Forums’ proposed for the six case study sites, and the attendees being<br />
