Volunteers
We are fortunate to have many people who generously
volunteer their time and skills.
More than 1,800 volunteers are integral to the caring
service provided by UnitingCare Ageing across NSW and
the ACT. In both community and residential programs,
volunteers provide an extra friendly face and support to
our residents and clients through pastoral visitation, bus
& car driving, handyperson and tutoring, receptionist and
shop assistant duties, and providing entertaintment. All
of these activities are much appreciated by residents,
clients and staff.
In an age regarded as ‘time poor’ and where volunteers
are in high demand, UnitingCare Ageing is fortunate to
have people so generous with their time and skills.
Volunteers may be members of local congregations who
have links with a specific aged care service, relatives of
our residents, or citizens who seek to make a contribution to
their local community through UnitingCare Ageing.
In recognition of their contributions, each Region of
UnitingCare Ageing organises various appreciation
events, which often coincide with Volunteers Awareness
Week and Christmas.
During the year several Regions including Wesley
Mission, Ku-ring-gai and Hunter, Central Coast and New
England, appointed Volunteer Co-ordinators to manage
the involvement of their volunteers. In March Wesley
Mission’s volunteer policy was adopted across the
UnitingCare Ageing network, and incorporated into
our Human Resource management policies .
