Code, to permit certain additional retired members of the Armed<br />
Forces who have a service-connected disability to receive both disability<br />

their disability and either retired pay by reason of the years of military<br />
service or Combat Related Special Compensation and to eliminate<br />
the phase-in period under current law with respect to such concurrent<br />

the Persian Gulf <strong>War</strong> or future hostilities from two years to five years<br />

S. 614 – Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA), 03/14/<strong>2005</strong> – Referred to Senate<br />
Committee on <strong>Veterans</strong> Affairs. Amend Title 38, US Code, to permit<br />
medicare-eligible veterans to receive an out-patient medication benefit,<br />
to provide that certain veterans who receive such benefit are not<br />
otherwise eligible for medical care and services from the Department<br />
of <strong>Veterans</strong> Affairs.<br />
Pay and Compensation<br />
H.R. 808 – Rep. Henry Brown (R-1-SC), 02/15/<strong>2005</strong> – Referred to<br />
House Committee on Armed Services. Amend Title 10, US Code, to<br />
repeal the offset from surviving spouse annuities under the military<br />
Survivor Benefit Plan for amounts paid by the Secretary of <strong>Veterans</strong><br />
Affairs as Dependency and Indemnity Compensation.<br />
H.R. 968 – Rep. Jim Saxton (R-3-NJ), 02/17/<strong>2005</strong> – Referred to<br />
House Committee on Armed Services. Amend Title 10, US Code, to<br />
change the effective date for paid-up coverage under the military<br />
Survivor Benefit Plan from <strong>Oct</strong>ober 1, 2008 to <strong>Oct</strong>ober 1, <strong>2005</strong>.<br />
H.R. 995 – Rep. Jerry Weller (R-11-IL), 03/01/<strong>2005</strong> – Referred to<br />

Code, to provide for the payment of Combat-Related Special<br />
Compensation under that title to members of the Armed Forces<br />
retired for disability with less than 20 years of military service who<br />
were awarded the Purple Heart.<br />

Compensation by reason of that disability.<br />
H.R. 2046 – Rep. Steve Buyer (R-4-IN), 05/24/<strong>2005</strong> – Passed full<br />
House on May 23 and sent to Senate for action. Amend<br />
Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to limit premium increases on reinstated<br />
health insurance on servicemembers who are released from<br />
active military service.<br />
