EVENT RULES AND GUIDELINES
A. Bronze
1. Participant must read at least two different narrative
Bible passages to audiences for a total of six readings.
Each narrative must be read at least one time. A
“narrative passage” is a Bible text that starts with the
beginning of a story and ends with the conclusion of
that story. For example, Luke 21:1-4, John 3:1-7 or
Acts 5:1-11. Much of the Old Testament is narrative
(Genesis 37:3-36, 2 Samuel 23:20-23). Students must
read a total of six times to various audiences. An
“audience” is not necessarily a crowd. An “audience”
may take the form of Bible classes, worship services,
nursing homes, neighbors, friends, school groups,
youth groups or grandparents.
2. The participant will volunteer to read scripture for the
congregation, Ladies class, Bible class, etc. Work with
the group leader and elders to arrange appropriate
settings for these readings.
B. Silver
1. The participant will choose applicable scriptures for the
sick, disabled, bereaved or younger children and read
to them.
2. The participant will demonstrate that they can find and
read the Plan of Salvation to an audience. See Lesson
16 of the Field Book of Leadership.
3. The participant must read an entire chapter of the Bible
to an audience.
4. The participant must successfully complete the Public
Speaking Techniques/Microphone Guidelines Training
under adult supervision. See Lesson 5 of the Field
Book of Leadership.
Silver Level.
ABR website. The ABR website will track their scores
3. Each test can only be taken one time unless a teacher
resets the test and erases the score. The website will
