Purulia: State food minister Jyotipriyo
five-member vigilance team in every
district of the state to get rid of corruption
in food supply and distribution.
During his recent visit to Purulia on
Thursday, he also sealed four godowns
of Balarampur Thana Large Sized Cooperative
Agricultural Marketing
Society Limited due to some discrepancies
noted here.
The minister had reportedly
received several complaints about the
godowns here. On Thursday, he raided
the godowns along with self-employment
and self-help group minister
Shantiram Mahato, state food director
Joydeb Jana and district food controller,
Sunoy Goswami. He noticed
several discrepancies in the godowns
and found the grain rotting here due to
the leakage of rainwater from a hole in
the roof.
The minister ordered these
godowns to be sealed and ordered a
probe after the local residents alleged
that the food materials from these
godowns are smuggled to Jharkhand.
Mullick then went to a ration card
distribution centre at Bamundiha in
Barabazar and spoke to the cardholders
there. He also visited a rice mill in
Purulia Block II and enquired about
in Durgapur. Kaksa and Budbud in Durgapur
are excluded. Asansol and Durgapur have
been divided into three areas: east, west and
central headed by a deputy commissioner.
The commissionerate (east) includes
Durgapur police station, Newtownship,
Faridpur, Kokbhen, Pandev shwar and Andal.
The commissionarate (west) includes Kulti,
Hirapur, Salanpur, Barabani and Chittaranjan.
The commissionerate (central) includes
The ranks of the additional police superintendents
of Asansol and Durgapur have been
