1. <strong>ORGANIZATION</strong><br />
Carriage & Wagon department is headed by Sr. DME/C&W who is assisted by<br />
ADME/C&W. There are 04 BG (LGH, BKN, BNW, & SGNR) & 02 MG at SDLP & SRDR<br />
coaching depots, 01 BG ART at LGH and 02 MG ART at (CUR & HMH), 02(BG) ARMV at<br />
(LGH & SOG) and 01 (MG) ARMV at HMH in Bikaner division. There is no Wagon<br />
Maintenance activity in division except DMT maintenance.<br />

4. GOODS MAINTENANCE<br />
No C&W depot is nominated for such activities over division but intensive examination of<br />
BG DMT is being attended at SOG. Total 10 DMT in BG were attended during the year<br />
2011-12.<br />
5. LINEN MANAGEMENT<br />
Linen management of 8 trains has been taken over from commercial department from<br />
the month of July-2011 and managed by Mechanical (C&W) department at BKN, BNW<br />
and SGNR depots. The details trains covered for linen management is as under:-<br />

6. OTHER C&W ACTIVITIES<br />
1. Only Platform return maintenance for coaching trains is being done at HMH, HSR,<br />
SDLP & CUR station.<br />
2. Lashing, Chaining, measurement of out going & incoming loads of military special at<br />
Lalgarh, Mahajan, Arjansar, Kanasar, Birdhwal & Satroad is done. Average 09<br />
outgoing and 09 incoming load are attended per month.<br />
3. To attend road side detachments, brake binding and other unusual over division.<br />
4. Escorting of military specials and other trains as and when required for ODC.<br />
Presently on an average 12 trains are escorted per month.<br />
5. 03 employees per shift were deployed at STPS for post tippling examination.<br />
7. ART & ARMV<br />
C&W depot LGH is having 140 T Diesel BG crane with ‘A’ Class ART. 35 T steam crane<br />
with ‘A’ class ART are provided at C&W depots at CUR & SGNR on MG section. ARMV is<br />
also provided at LGH & SOG in BG and HMH in MG section.<br />

9. ACHIEVEMENTS <strong>MECHANICAL</strong> (C&W) <strong>DEPARTMENT</strong> FOR THE YEAR 2011-12<br />
• Sick marking of primary based coaches has been reduced by 5.2% per coach<br />
holding as compared to corresponding period of last year.<br />
• In-effective percentage of coaching stock has been reduced by 41.37% as compared<br />
to corresponding period of last year.<br />
• The linen Management in trains in Bikaner division has been taken over from<br />
Commercial department in July 2011 and presently is being managed by C&W<br />
department.<br />
• 214 MT scrap has been generated from condemned over aged MG wagon (four Nos<br />
BTP wagons) and handed over to store & auctioned.<br />
• 201 Nos MG Rolling (187 coaches+6 diesel engines+8 Rail carriers) were unloaded<br />
for workshop activity and 275 (261 Coaches+6 diesel engines+8 Rail carriers) also<br />
loaded after POH activity on BG DBKM wagons during this year with the existing<br />
manpower by efficient utilization.<br />
• Construction work has been completed of 24 coaches New BG washing line at<br />
Bikaner and maintenance work also started from 26.01.2012.<br />
• Newly constructed Coach Care Complex at Bikaner handed over by construction<br />
department on 26.01.2012 for the use of maintenance of coaching stock.<br />
• Non Sparking Tool set has been provided one each at C&W depot Bikaner & Hisar<br />
during the year 2011-12.<br />
• Bullet chain Saw & Bocsh Sabre Saw for quick & safe cutting of coach body during<br />
restoration has been provided in ART lalgarh during this year.<br />
• Contract for dry cleaning in five pair platform return trains at SGNR and three pair<br />
platform return trains at Sadulpur and 05 pair platform return trains at HSR station<br />
has been done for first time.<br />
ASSISTANCE REQUIRED:<br />
1. With the introduction of new trains and their frequency increase the work load<br />
of division has increased. The staff for maintaining these different activities is<br />
less as per bench marking norms. 83 more posts are required. The case of 83<br />
posts sent to HQ for administrative approval of GM/NWR through Mechanical<br />
HQ before processing it further.<br />
2. Condemnation proposal of surplus underage MG Heritage-on-Wheel (HOW)<br />
coaches has been sent to HQ. Disposal of same is awaited from HQ.
