Honoring those
who give ....
The past year was definitely a tough one
for many Ohioans. OCSEA is proud of
the activists who, despite the economic
setbacks and dedication to repealing SB 5, gave
generously to charities. They reached out to those
in need and gave their time, money and hearts.
Each year OCSEA recognizes members and
subordinate bodies who go above and beyond
with acts of service, volunteerism, contributions
and heroism. The OCSEA Horizon Award is presented
to nominees that have positively impacted
Guidelines:
The OCSEA Board of Directors’ Membership and Public
Relations Committee serves as the panel of judges and
focuses on the following criteria when reviewing nominations:
• Is the nominee a current OCSEA member or subordinate
body (chapter, district or assembly)?
• Does the nominator demonstrate how the service or act
positively affected individuals or the community as
a whole?
• Are there letters of support and personal testimony that
describe the nominee’s community service or acts of
heroism?
• Does personal testimony describe how the act affected
the nominator or the community?
• Was the service work or act of heroism performed
within one year of the application deadline?

The winner of the 2012 Horizon Award will be
honored at an OCSEA Board of Directors’ meeting
and will also receive a contribution to the charity
of their choice in the amount of $500.
