DRAMA CLASSES Students entering grades 2-12 INTRO TO ACTING Students entering grades 2-9 (2 weeks) Gr. 2-5 class, June 17-21 and 24-28, 1-3 p.m. Gr. 6-9 class, June 17-21 and 24-28, 10 a.m.-noon In a uniquely creative approach, students are introduced to the fundamentals of performing arts through improvisation, script analysis and the study of monologue materials. Special attention is focused on the interpretation and translation of the dramatic script as the basis for the exploration of finding their characters within. INSTRUCTOR Dontae Hill COST $180 LOCATION Acting Studio, Otteson Theatre IMPROV Students entering grades 4-9 (2 weeks) July 1-5 (no class on July 4) and 8-12, 10-noon Students have the ability to focus on one of the most fun mediums of acting – improv. Students learn the art of acting on the spot without the knowledge of what is going to happen next. Students will use their creative abilities as well as their skills for teamwork to create an improv performance that will be enjoyable for the whole family. INSTRUCTOR Dontae Hill COST $180 LOCATION Acting Studio, Otteson Theatre FORENSICS Students entering grades 6-12, (2 weeks) July 1-5 (no class on July 4) and 8-12, 1-3 p.m. Forensics is the art of orally interpreting literature. There are a variety of different categories, from poetry to play acting to debate. It’s an amazing opportunity for students already participating at their local school to retrieve pieces for their categories and for new students to be introduced to a world of creativity and fun. INSTRUCTOR Dontae Hill COST $180 LOCATION Acting Studio, Otteson Theatre SET MAKING Students entering grades 6-12 July 15-19, 12:30-2 p.m. Learn the basics of stagecraft, including set design, drawing and drafting a floor plan, painting the set, paint techniques (sponge, spatter, stencil, rag roll, grunge). If you are planning to participate in a summer play, or you like stagecraft, consider taking part in the entire process of developing the end product. ATHLETIC CAMPS The Carroll University Athletic Department sponsors camps for youth of all ages. In summer 2013, Carroll is offering camps in soccer, volleyball, baseball, basketball and football. These camps are fun, instructional, affordable and convenient. Features of the camps include: • Top-level instruction from Carroll coaches and players. • Daily games and competitions. • T-shirts, certificates and evaluations for each camper at the camps specified.
