Award (1989), Prentice Society Award for Excellence in<br />

Clinical Education (1992), World Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>Optometry</strong><br />

Optometrist <strong>of</strong> the Year (1996), and one <strong>of</strong> the first two<br />

inductees into the <strong>Optometry</strong> Hall <strong>of</strong> Fame (1998). In<br />

1999, he was voted “the most influential optometrist <strong>of</strong><br />

our time” by readers <strong>of</strong> Review <strong>of</strong> <strong>Optometry</strong>. He<br />

received an honorary LLD degree from IU in 1968, and<br />

the Herman B Wells Visionary Award in 2002. Irvin M.<br />

Borish died on March 3, <strong>2012</strong>, in Boca Raton, Florida.<br />
