2011 Business Year showed that<br />
29% of <strong>Scratch</strong>-it sales came from<br />
<strong>Crossword</strong> games, in comparison<br />
to 6% of sales reflecting Bingo<br />
games and 65% of sales coming<br />
from other types of <strong>Scratch</strong>-its. By<br />
promoting <strong>Crossword</strong> <strong>Scratch</strong>-its,<br />
you can help encourage new and<br />
current <strong>Scratch</strong>-it players to give<br />
crosswords a try for<br />

funds, a new business is thriving in<br />
Astoria, and creating new jobs for<br />
local <strong>Oregon</strong>ians. That business is<br />
Fort George Brewery. This local<br />
brewery was able to build a new<br />
8,000 sq. foot production facility,<br />
purchase a canning line and<br />
add cold storage, with the help of<br />
<strong>Lottery</strong> funds and Business <strong>Oregon</strong>.<br />

At Naps Thriftway!<br />
Rich Peterson, owner of Naps<br />
Thriftway, sets the bar high for<br />
implementing <strong>Lottery</strong> recommended<br />
best practices. He has<br />
worked at this location for 35<br />
years and has owned it for 19. He<br />
is also actively involved in various<br />
community outreach efforts<br />
which integrate his business with<br />
the community of Newberg.<br />
Peterson’s team supports his<br />
efforts in providing excellent customer<br />
service. Theresa, who runs<br />
the Customer Service Counter, is<br />
very knowledgeable about <strong>Lottery</strong><br />
games and has built great relationships<br />
with customers. Every<br />
morning, Rich and Theresa verify<br />
that inventory is stocked and all<br />
108 facings in the store remain<br />
full. This location sells an average<br />
of over $11,000 in <strong>Lottery</strong> products<br />
each week!<br />
Naps Thriftway is well organized,<br />
and all of its staff members support<br />
each and every <strong>Lottery</strong> game,<br />
including Raffle SM . The staff enjoys<br />
building excitement with their customers<br />
when Raffle tickets go on<br />
sale and count down the days until<br />
sell out. Rich and his staff understand<br />
the benefits <strong>Lottery</strong> products<br />

Preventing Ticket Errors<br />
When a customer purchases a<br />
draw game ticket, please take the<br />
following steps prior to printing<br />
their ticket:<br />
By using the verification screen,<br />
first verify the ticket (type and<br />
amount), then accept payment<br />
from the customer and print the<br />
ticket. These steps will help to successfully<br />
eliminate ticket errors.
