Hatcheries of this size and with this amount of equipment exist in Ireland at the moment and these are mainly<br />

used for shellfish production work (oysters, scallops, clams). The costs given above are an accurate reflection of<br />

the current situation. A hatchery of this size could be also be used for bivalves in association with seaweed work.<br />

As discussed, this hatchery could produce 48 nets for <strong>Palmaria</strong> grow-out in just one batch and for sea<br />

deployment in October, November, December and January.<br />
