The Orlando, Inc., Board of Directors meeting was called to order by Chairman Waymon
Armstrong at 8:35 a.m. The meeting was sponsored by Alison Hoefler and Southwest Airlines.
Chairman Armstrong acknowledged the volunteer leaders and special guests in the room and
introduced the guest of honor, Gary Kelly, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Southwest Airlines, who provided insights on Southwest’s vision for the future. The company,
which just celebrated 42 year of consecutive profitability, is United States’ largest carrier and
was named #1 in Customer Satisfaction by the Department of Transportation for the year 2012.
In addition, Fortune magazine consistently lists Southwest Airlines among the world’s most
admired corporations, currently ranking seventh on that prestigious list.
Chairman Armstrong presented Mr. Kelly with a basket of Florida oranges and Mr. Kelly
presented Chairman Armstrong with a custom Southwest airplane model.
The President’s Report included an update on “Turning the Page,” which will include the
advancement of the Capital and International Business Task Forces. He also discussed the

progress been made with the Central Florida Technology Forum and the Entrepreneurs
Academy. Orlando, Inc., Board member Dr. Tom O’Neal, who chairs the National Entrepreneur
Center, will also be the Chairman of the 2013 Entrepreneurs Academy. In addition, this year’s
Academies will be produced in partnership with various Chambers of Commerce throughout the
region.
President Stuart also reviewed the upcoming programs and Opportunities to Connect including
the Business Success Strategies Series, Business Leadership Roundtables and the Meetings
with the Members of the Entrepreneurs Ecosystem.
The meeting Agenda was completed. There being no further business, the June 2013 Board of
Directors meeting of Orlando, Inc., was adjourned at 9:28 a.m. by Chairman Waymon
Armstrong.
Immediately after the conclusion of the Board meeting, Orlando, Inc., Board members and
guests were transported to the Magic Carpet Aviation Hanger for a “VIP Tailored for Flight”
event, where Southwest Airlines unveiled a new themed aircraft in its fleet, Penguin One,
through its partnership with SeaWorld. This penguin-themed Boeing 737-700 represents the
evolution of their 25-year partnership and their mutual dedication to travel, tourism, and family
entertainment.
There will be no Board of Directors meeting in July. The next regularly-scheduled Board of
Directors meeting of Orlando, Inc., will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013, from 8:00 to 9:30
a.m., in the Chamber of Commerce Building.
