Musgrave Scholarship in philosophy
fundraising Appeal
We welcome your contribution toward a scholarship
in honour of Professor Alan Musgrave, acknowledging
his continuing and outstanding contribution to
Philosophy at Otago over four decades.
This prestigious scholarship will attract high calibre
international students to the University of Otago
who wish to undertake postgraduate study towards
a Masters degree in the Department of Philosophy.
Since 1970 Professor Musgrave has held the Chair
of Philosophy at the University of Otago, establishing
himself as a leading international philosopher of
science. He is well known as an inspirational teacher
and leader. His impact on the intellectual formation
of generations of students has left an indelible mark
both in New Zealand and abroad.
Professor Musgrave continues to teach, research, and
publish at Otago. He has announced his intention
to retire from the Chair at the end of 2010. This
important appeal is our way of recognising Alan and
honouring his own longstanding commitment to
teaching and research.
