As an English tutor <strong>for</strong> Athletics, I was responsible <strong>for</strong> tutoring student-athletes in composition<br />

and literature. I also worked as a personal monitor, a job that included helping student-athletes<br />

plan and organize their schedules.<br />

As a Communication Arts instructor, I was responsible <strong>for</strong> teaching writing and public speaking.<br />

As an English tutor, I was responsible <strong>for</strong> tutoring students in literature and composition. My<br />

duties included helping students develop their own ideas, in addition to giving them advice on<br />

how to adequately communicate those ideas in an academic paper. Although my area is English,<br />

I would <strong>of</strong>ten help students with papers <strong>for</strong> classes in other disciplines.<br />

Research & Editing Experience<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Alabama, Research Assistant <strong>for</strong> Dr. Claire Major<br />

As a research assistant <strong>for</strong> Dr. Major, I was responsible <strong>for</strong> researching online learning. I <strong>of</strong>ten<br />

read and categorized research on student perceptions and satisfaction in online courses; some <strong>of</strong><br />

the in<strong>for</strong>mation was <strong>for</strong> Dr. Major’s book. On occasion, I helped with editing responsibilities <strong>for</strong><br />

the Journal <strong>of</strong> General Education.<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Alabama, Editor <strong>for</strong> Instructional Technology<br />

As the part-time editor <strong>for</strong> Instructional Technology in the College <strong>of</strong> Continuing Studies, I was<br />

responsible <strong>for</strong> editing newly-developed online courses <strong>for</strong> grammar errors and inconsistencies.<br />

WMU, Writer/Copy Editor<br />

As the writer/copy editor <strong>for</strong> the Executive Office Team, I was responsible <strong>for</strong> writing news<br />

releases; compiling, designing, and distributing the corporate newsletter; copy editing<br />

publications <strong>for</strong> my team and others in the Corporate Communications and Financial Center;<br />

designing and compiling the retiree newsletter; compiling the quarterly update (desktop<br />

publishing); and serving as the liaison between the organization and its retirees. I also wrote<br />

descriptions <strong>for</strong> the 2009 WorldCrafts catalog, which features work by fair trade artisans.<br />
