As part of National Novel Writing
Month (NaNoWriMo) the Maple Valley
Library will be hosting Write-Ins for
Teens who want support writing their
novels. We will have writing sprints,
time to inspire each other, snacks and
hot chocolate! The word-count goal for
our adult program is 50,000 words, but
our Young Writers Program allows
participants who are 17 years old
and younger to set reasonable, yet
challenging, word-count goals.

all-time high among preschoolers -
according to Nielsen, young children
spend, on average, more than 24 hours
a week watching TV. This number
does not even include video games,
computers and TV watched outside
the home. Learn ways to reduce the
amount of time children spend in front
of screens, set guidelines on screen time
and communicate with parents about
limiting screen time at home. Provides
one credit hour in Health, Safety and
