Tires Spedition Müller relies on TruckForce New service plans and partnerships guarantee success and growth in the long term. That’s why Wolfgang Müller Spedition in Dresden relies on TruckForce from Goodyear Dunlop. Wolfgang Müller Speditionsgesellschaft, a company with a long tradition, has been successfully “on the road” for more than 30 years now. Today, the Dresden-based company employs 300 people, trains apprentices in various fields and operates from sites in Hagen and Salzgitter as well as the headquarters in Dresden. When asked about the secret of the company’s success, managing director Sabine Tröger claims the unqualified emphasis on quality and service is key. It is clear that this is not just theory: the fleet consists of the latest vehicles with approx. 250 tractor units at present, none of which are older than 4 years, equipped with the latest communication technology and fitted in accordance with the latest safety regulations. Not least, the renewed award of the TÜV quality certificate in August 2005 and the environmental certificate in October 2005, as well as certification to DIN ISO 9001:2000 and DIN EN ISO 14001, are clear evidence of values such as environmental protection, safety and quality. The company is now a partner of Goodyear Dunlop Tires Germany GmbH, with which a comprehensive tyre service agreement has been concluded. The programme, called TruckForce, offers an extensive package of nationwide purchasing structures for tyres – under standardised conditions. In addition, central order processing and billing, professional tyre management and a breakdown service as well as detailed online information services are guaranteed. Sill have questions? Tires P-S interview with managing director Sabine Tröger Partner-Store: Ms Tröger, you mainly serve large parcel service providers. What particular characteristics does that involve? Sabine Tröger: When you’re transporting goods for important senders and parcel services, reliability and compliance with deadlines are expected above all. Most journeys take place at night, and everything has to run smoothly then too. All processes have to focus on this. That means the fleet always has to be in perfect working order technically speaking, and you need modern means of communication and logistics in the background which work perfectly at all times, particularly at night, and take effect in the event of breakdowns. This is the only way in which we can offer the quality expected by customers. Partner-Store: In this context, what do you think of the services of the 4Fleet Group? What were the deciding arguments for your decision? Sabine Tröger: We found a complete package here with which we can cover all our tyre needs. That starts with standardised purchasing conditions throughout Germany and corresponding availability, continues in professional tyre management, and extends to breakdown help which is always available as well as comprehensive, in-depth information services. Everything from a single source, so to speak. And of course an interesting price/performance ratio plays a role. Partner-Store: You place a strong emphasis on using state-of-the-art technologies and information management. What benefits does the service from the 4Fleet Group offer in this respect? Sabine Tröger: We always try to exhaust technical possibilities. That naturally includes hardware and software equipment in vehicles and at our headquarters, but the quality of information is crucial above all. Information must be relevant and checkable. That’s very important when you make promises to your customers. But it’s just as important to ensure these systems are user-friendly and can be glanced over and operated by drivers at all times. The service from the 4Fleet Group gives us simple and reliable solutions for driving operations, such as a breakdown service, and in-depth information for our management. Partner-Store: Let’s talk about prospects for the future: you are experiencing a fantastic increase in orders and have ordered new trucks. What do modern service packages like Truck- Force mean to you in terms of further growth opportunities? Sabine Tröger: When you look at how fast the complexity of our business is growing, you realise we have to find ways of simplifying it. That also means getting a better grip on costs. Instead of us worrying about all the tiny details concerning tyres ourselves, we have sought partners which can do that professionally and much more effectively, even outside normal business hours. Equally as important is that we have access to all cost factors, key figures and analyses at all times and that transparency is guaranteed. That allows us to concentrate on our actual business. Partner-Store: How important is central invoicing and processing to you? Sabine Tröger: Of course it helps us enormously in management tasks. As a result we have greatly simplified workflows and more transparency. We thus have an overview of all business management factors and can directly accept the key figures and assign them to cost centres or vehicles. Partner-Store: Goodyear Dunlop also offers a breakdown service. How important is an international breakdown service for you? Sabine Tröger: Our vehicles are mainly on the move at night, i.e. when most tyre dealers and workshops are closed. So we need a reliable breakdown service which can be reached 24/7 and can provide help quickly even at night. In most cases, the driver is the only point of contact, so the process must be designed so that he/she can gain an overview of the entire proceedings and control them. Partner-Store: How important is the online request facility of Roadside Assistance Solutions in this regard? Sabine Tröger: Our orders do not allow major delays. If a vehicle has broken down, not only do we need to get it going again as quickly as possible, but we also have to be able to tell the customer exactly when he/ she can expect the delivery to arrive. Online services are very helpful in this regard. They ensure we always know how things stand and can give the customer reliable information.
