A1 Introduction

The Parvus Power Supply provides power for the Cisco 5915 and the expansion module boards.
The internal Ethernet connection connects the Cisco 5915 to the COM-1268 boards in the
expansion module.
The Zeroization signal is externally generated at the J3 Console connector and transmitted to the
Cisco 5915 and expansion module boards. Zeroization erases the COM-1268 application code
and configuration data on both COM-1268s. For additional information, refer to "Zeroization" on
page 46.
From the DuraMAR 5915 perspective (front panel, pinouts, cables), the two COM-1268 boards
are J4 ETH 1 and J5 ETH2. To the COM-1268 management interface, the two boards are
boards 0 and 1 with ports 0/0-1/9.
Internal Ethernet Connections
Each COM-1268 has ten ports but some ports are internally connected to provide connection between
COM-1268 board 0 and board 1 and between COM-1268 board 0 and the Cisco 5915 (Figure 24).
COM-1268 management is performed via the serial management port on board 0.
Commands for board 1 are sent from board 0 via IrDA (infrared). The IrDA link supports board 1
port configuration, transfer of board 1 configuration files to and from a host PC, and initiating
upgrading of board 1 application code.
