<strong>Needles</strong><br />
A 5.00mm (US 8), (UK 6) Circular Needle or size<br />
that gives correct tension/gauge.<br />
Materials<br />
A Yarn Needle; A 40 cm x 40 cm/16 in x 16 in<br />
Cushion Insert for Cushion.<br />
TENSION/gauge<br />
18 sts <strong>and</strong> 32 rows to 10 cm/4 ins over<br />
garter st, using 5.00mm (US 8), (UK 6)<br />
<strong>Knitting</strong> <strong>Needles</strong>.<br />
Note - Correct tension/gauge is essential<br />
for a successful h<strong>and</strong>knit.<br />
Abbreviations<br />
St/s - stitch/es, K - Knit, P - purl, stocking st<br />
- 1 row K,<br />
1 row P, RS - right side, WS - wrong side, K2tog<br />
- knit 2 sts together, K3tog - knit 3 sts together,<br />
foll - follow/ing, alt - alternate, cont - continue,<br />
dec - decrease, rem - remain/ing.<br />
CREATE<br />
Cushion Side (make 2)<br />
Using 5.00mm (US 8), (UK 6) Circular <strong>Needles</strong><br />
<strong>and</strong> C1, cast on 297 sts.<br />
Note - Do not break off yarns when working<br />
in colour stripes, instead carry yarn not in use<br />
loosely up side of work until required again. Work<br />
in rows not rounds.<br />
1st row (RS) - Knit.<br />
2nd row - Knit.<br />
3rd row - K2tog, (K71, K3tog) 3 times, K71, K2tog<br />
= 289 sts.<br />
4th row - Knit.<br />
Using C2, 5th row - K2tog, (K69, K3tog) 3<br />
times, K69, K2tog = 281 sts.<br />
6th row - Knit.<br />
7th row - K2tog, (K67, K3tog) 3 times, K67, K2tog<br />
= 273 sts.<br />
8th row - Knit.<br />
Using C1, 9th row - K2tog, (K65, K3tog) 3<br />
times, K65, K2tog = 265 sts.<br />
10th row - Knit.<br />
11th row - K2tog, (K63, K3tog) 3 times,<br />
K63, K2tog = 257 sts.<br />
12th row - Knit.<br />
Using C2, cont dec 8 sts each time (as in last<br />
12 rows) in next row <strong>and</strong> every foll alt row,<br />
at the same time changing colours in every<br />

Next row - K3tog. Fasten off.<br />
Throw Squares (make 12)<br />
Using 5.00mm (US 8), (UK 6) Circular Needle<br />
<strong>and</strong> C1, cast on 217 sts.<br />
Note - Do not break off yarns when working<br />
in colour stripes, instead carry yarn not in<br />
use loosely up side of work until required<br />
again. Work in rows not rounds.<br />
1st row (RS) - Knit.<br />
2nd row - Knit.<br />
3rd row - K2tog, (K51, K3tog) 3 times, K51,<br />
K2tog = 209 sts.<br />
4th row - Knit.<br />
Using C2, 5th row - K2tog, (K49, K3tog) 3<br />
times, K49, K2tog = 201 sts.<br />
6th row - Knit.<br />
7th row - K2tog, (K47, K3tog) 3 times, K47,<br />
K2tog = 193 sts.<br />
8th row - Knit.<br />
Using C1, 9th row - K2tog, (K45, K3tog) 3<br />
times, K45, K2tog = 185 sts.<br />
10th row - Knit.<br />
11th row - K2tog, (K43, K3tog) 3 times,<br />
K43, K2tog = 177 sts.<br />
12th row - Knit.<br />
Using C2, cont dec 8 sts each time (as in last<br />

FINISHING<br />
DO NOT PRESS. Using yarn needle, darn in<br />
ends.<br />
Cushion - Using yarn needle <strong>and</strong> a flat<br />
seam, join side edges of each piece together<br />
to form a square. Using back stitch, join two<br />
squares together along 3 sides. Place insert<br />
inside cushion <strong>and</strong> close rem seam.<br />
Throw - Using yarn needle <strong>and</strong> a flat seam,<br />
join side edges of each piece together to<br />
form a square. Arrange squares into a 3 x<br />
4 grid <strong>and</strong> using a flat seam, join squares<br />
together.<br />
