NEEDLES<br />

For <strong>Scarf</strong> - A pair 4.50mm (US 7), (UK 7)<br />

<strong>Knitting</strong> <strong>Needles</strong> or size that gives correct<br />

tension/gauge.<br />

For <strong>Gloves</strong> - A pair 4.00mm (US 6), (UK 8)<br />

<strong>Knitting</strong> <strong>Needles</strong> or size that gives correct<br />

tension/gauge.<br />

MATERIALS<br />

A Yarn Needle.<br />

TENSION/GAUGE<br />

For <strong>Scarf</strong> - 14 sts in width to 10 cms/4 ins<br />

over patt, using 4.50mm (US 7), (UK 7)<br />

<strong>Knitting</strong> <strong>Needles</strong>.<br />

For <strong>Gloves</strong> - 21 sts <strong>and</strong> 29 rows to 10<br />

cms/4 ins over stocking st, using 4.00mm<br />

(US 6), (UK 8) <strong>Knitting</strong> <strong>Needles</strong>.<br />

Note - Correct tension/gauge is essential<br />

for a successful h<strong>and</strong>knit.<br />

ABBREVIATIONS<br />

St/s - stitch/es, K - knit, P - purl, RS - right<br />

side, WS - wrong side, garter st - every row<br />

knit, stocking st - 1 row K, 1 row P, beg -<br />

begin/ning, patt - pattern, tog - together, rep<br />

- repeat, cont - continue, P2tog - purl 2 sts<br />

together, yrn - yarn round needle to make a<br />

stitch, inc - increase, M1 - make one st by<br />

picking up loop that lies before next st, place<br />

CREATE<br />

<strong>Scarf</strong><br />

Using 4.50mm (US 7), (UK 7) <strong>Needles</strong>, cast on<br />

50 sts loosely.<br />

Beg patt - 1st row - K1, * yrn, P2tog, rep<br />

from * to last st, K1.<br />

Rep 1st row for patt throughout until <strong>Scarf</strong><br />

weighs approx 150g. Cast/bind off.<br />

Cast/bind off very loosely knitways.<br />

Right Glove (beg at cuff)<br />

Using 4.00mm (US 6), (UK 8) <strong>Needles</strong>,<br />

cast on 39 sts.<br />
