I AM MORE CAMPAIGN:
This event was so amazing. It was my 59th Birthday Party, held at
Numbers. I shared with 7 wonderful women from Christie’s Place,
which is the only organization in San Diego dedicated to serving
women, childre. and families infected and affected by HIV/AIDS .
What a great gift this was being able to share my day with them. I
could have not done this with out the help of HAIRSPRAY SALON
located at 141 University Avenue in the heart of Hillcrest. They help in
donating their time and talent by doing cut, style, and color for these
women. Then upstairs, there were the M.A.C. Cosmetics makeup
artists, who worked their magic! Big Thanks to Louis Orozco, Lady O’,
and Matt Walker. You all made these women feel like queens. They
were then ready to attend my birthday party and be QUEEN FOR A
DAY!

“ICSD & HAIRSPRAY put on an amazing event for me and the women
of Christie’s Place (CP). The experience I had on Sunday was truly
life changing. I made new friends and took away life-long memories.
The Imperial Court S.D. gave me back my feminine side—I felt like a
beautiful women again! I was so impressed by everyone involved, from
the hairstylist to Jay Prince Royal and Empress Candi Samples, to the
CP staff member that was there. They were so sweet and genuinely
cared about pampering me on my special day. The owner of the salon
(Hairspray Salon) told me to come in whenever I was ready for my
next appointment and it would be on the house. I started to tear up
because I knew this was great but I would never be able to keep it up
for it would be too expensive—so knowing I can get my hair done at
Hairspray’s for free means more than just a haircut. It’s giving me back
my beauty and feminine side. I am grateful to Candi Samples, but also
to CP for yet again providing me with such an awesome opportunity to

JOE MARTINEZ; is Bartender at Numbers and is also a Crown Prince
for life of the Imperial Court. Joe has helped out in many different
events and fundraisers here in San Diego for many years. Next time
you are in the area, visit him and say hello. He is there Tues - Sunday
2- 8pm

thankful for CP and the Imperial Court, Hairspray and Candi Samples
for allowing me to participate in such an amazing event. It made me

It was amazing to see these women on stage and hear them say how
wonderful they feel. What a great gift. Thank you to each and every
one who helped support this event. It takes a village, and what a
wonderful one we have. 59 feels so good......
QUEEN OF THE DESERT:
A So-Cal Lip Sync Competition benefiting Desert Aids Project in Palm
Springs Ca. Wednesday May 28th at the Renaissance Hotel for more

I Candi Samples will be in this competition representing STREET BAR
224 E. Arenas Rd. Palm Springs Ca. make this a 4 day weekend and
have fun in the sun. Join me and cheer me on in this event. This
will be fun to return to my roots where Candi was Born May of 2009
makes me 5 years old as a baby drag queen I have learned so much
and have made friends with many sisters who have shown me the
way of DRAG who would have knew that through drag I would be
helping so many in my community.
