Keeping children safe
from accidents doesn’t have
to be a big deal!
Little things can make the difference between
safety and serious injury – or even death.
Nearly 300 children are admitted to
hospital every day because of accidents,
and tragically, nearly every day one
child dies. Yet so many of those
accidents can be prevented with a little
planning and a few simple actions.
The message for this year’s Child Safety
Week is that everyone can be a ‘life-saver’.
We want to encourage parents,
grandparents, aunts, uncles, older
brothers and sisters, neighbours
and childminders to recognise the
important role they can play in
keeping children safe.
Just by moving toys off the
stairs or remembering never
to pass hot drinks over the
heads of children, you can
protect a child from serious
injury. Simple things like
testing your smoke alarm every
week or making sure you don’t
go over the 30 mph speed limit
in built-up areas can also make
a huge difference.
So help us spread the word.
Avoid the worst and put
child safety first.
